Diet is closely related to people's livelihood and people can’t live without food. Three meals a day can make people don’t feel hungry, and the quality of the food just represent the quality of people’s life. If one is not in the mood to eat, then it is clear that his life is in a mess!

During the Han dynasty, people were very particular about food and drink. We can find people had been in pursuit of food and drink from documents, cultural relics and stone statues of Han dynasty.
This poem was written by Su shi, a famous calligrapher in North Song dynasty, when he was downgraded to Huangzhou. Although Mr. Su was demoted to Huangzhou, he wasn’t passive and do nothing but became open-minded, even in adversity, to unlock his  hidden skills of eating.

In this lecture, we will take you to learn the soup called Shatang that even Emperor Qianlong enjoyed, the highly acclaimed stewed chicken with dough, the fat but not greasy Dongpo meat and the world's first fresh mutton and fish called Yangfangcangyu.

This course will take you explore Xuzhou’s traditional cuisine through the history of Xuzhou. After class, children can try to cook these dishes with their parents and enjoy the fun of eating and cooking.
