            Secular Thoughts

            Wang Ruiqin observes the world from the secular perspective, understands the world, and thinks about the world. Her works have no metaphysical traces and tone. For example, although she is devoted to describing things beyond the dust -- Buddha's hand and lotus flower, it is clearly the same as her other worldly and beautiful series of people and things, full of dedication to the secular sunshine. I think some people write about the secular world but they can get rid of it. Wang Ruiqin, on the other hand, is devoted to Zen but inadvertently brings out the worldly beauty of the woman. Between these two kinds of emotional expression, Wang Ruiqin can walk naturally without any barrier of temperament and spirit. In her works, the soft and boneless fingered Buddha and the petals of lotus are comparable to the flowery women she described in another mood, and these beautiful lives living in the secular world are just like the pure and beautiful world of the dependent fingered Buddha and lotus.


            Where is the atmosphere of Zen which can be tasted for a long time?

            Before I started to talk about folk arts and crafts appreciation for students, I borrowed a pile of colorful homespun cloth and a child cap embroidered with the pattern of "Phoenix wears peony" from Wang Ruiqin as teaching aids. The homespun cloth is woven by Wang Ruiqin when she was young, with fine warp and weft, and gorgeous colors; the child cap is made by her mother's skillful hand embroidery, with vivid shape, and the color thread shuttle free needle in place, which is one of the best embroidery originals I have seen. It's true that the nourishing and nurturing of childhood folk songs like life has already laid a solid foundation for Wang Ruiqin, and has become the origin of hers. Today, Wang Ruiqin's involvement with this origin is still there. Even if her works focus on setting off a world beyond the world, it is inevitable that she will not bring out the warmth of the countryside.

           Wang Ruiqin's works are all organized into flower, girl, Buddha hand and other visual symbols. In addition, the expression language is boneless, the color is simple and plain, the fragrance is diffuse, and the texture is hidden in the childish state, which further intensifies the female color of the picture. However, the female color is not equal to the female consciousness. Because we can't see Wang Ruiqin's gender recognition in gender reflection, her inner self-consciousness, or any imposition of the times, society and history in the aspects of subject selection, space display, color rendering, atmosphere construction, image modality. Wang Ruiqin sketched in a careless and meticulous way, and smoothed out all the conflicting tension in the overlapping dyeing. From the perspective of traditional painting, this secular idea is not a defect, on the contrary, it makes her works have a pure sense of returning to the origin of life, which is divorced from all kinds of claims.
            I think of Wang Ruiqin's finely woven colorful homespun and her mother's exquisite embroidered "Phoenix wears peony". How can I think of it again and again? Come down in one continuous line! Today's Wang Ruiqin, of course, is not the same as before. She went out of her closed hometown, into art colleges, and grew up to be college teachers teaching art, and then went abroad to learn from western culture. However, Wang Ruiqin, a young person who can weave, and today's Wang Ruiqin, a master's tutor, have changed their identity. They have diversified ideas, and their simple origin of life is clear. The spirit of conversion to Zen is born, and the secular spiritual system is still in the same line.
            Therefore, when I was ordered to write such a text, the 2 words that came out of my mind were: secular thoughts.
